Student looking for advice on what kinds of questions to ask

Published

Hello,

I have been lurking on this site for a few weeks. I figured it would be best to come on here and obtain some advice on the questions I should be asking the vocational colleges I am contacting. I am looking at their LVN programs. I would like to one day become a certified nurse midwife. I understand the LONG road that comes with that title but I am happy to start it.

Any advice?!

Ok what I am telling you right now it's just what I have observed around me living in the Bay Area so your situation might be different. 5 years ago I thought about the vocational school but someone adviced me against it and I am very glad they did. I know several people that finished LVN programs, passed the boards and are having a really hard time finding employment, a lot more than the RN new grads. If it's anyway that you can do the big push straight to the RN it will save you lot;s of money and time in the long run. I have heard that they are phasing out LVN's in hospitals and I have to say that where I work we don't even have one that I know of. So think about all this when you make your decision and make the best choice for your goal. Whatever you choose, good luck, it's hard work and very frustrating at times, I'm still a student, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
