Stuck between a rock and a hard place

many of you know that i've decided to quit my job to focus on nursing school for my last 8 weeks. so far i have had plenty of time to study and rest and just catch up on life. however, i do wish that i had a part-time job. i did apply for jobs as a cna weeks before quitting my full time job, however there have been no leads. now i'm about 6 weeks away from being done with nursing school and i don't know whether to apply for cna jobs or nursing jobs. some of my peers are telling me to apply for jobs as a tech but don't let them know that i'm in nursing school, so that way they'll hire me. i just can't do this though. i'm such an honest person and i want employers to know that me working as a cna is just temporary. my goal is to work as a cna now and have my foot in the door once i become a nurse. i've even had employers ask me " why should i hire you as a cna now when you will be done nursing school next month ?" yes i love having all the time in the world to study however, i do need some extra income also. the good news is that i paid my car note up for two months, and i'm currently not behind on any bills. the bad news is that i still need some source of income.

anyway... how can i make myself marketable ? i don't want to be the type of person that will work at a place for 5 weeks and then drop that job as soon as i get my license. any advice would be lovely.

Have you tried looking for an agency job or home health care? I think those might allow for ability to pick shifts/availability moreso than your average CNA/tech job. You could also try to find something PRN or float pool at a hospital, but I don't know what the training/orientation period would be like. Good luck!

I have found that nursing temp agencies are a great way to go for short term work as a CNA. They seem to snap you up knowing you are a nursing student --especially one about to graduate... also gives flexibilty on your choice of work times
