stressful times Bayelsa state

Am proud to be a student nurse, it gives me joy knowing one day I will have an impact on someone's life, I mean the joy in playing the role of a saviour makes me feel confident an strong.

In this pass days have not been myself, both preapring for my project and client care, is really draining me.

I need advice on how to get over such stress

Saviour? Don't think like that. That's the start of the God Complex. A terminal condition to say the least. If you're feeling stressed, think about your "happy place". Yes, think Happy Gilmore the movie. Is it your dog, your spouse/partner, a glass of wine? A certain song? Go to your happy place, relax, and clear your mind. Once your mind is clear, objectively analyze the facts. Is it both things combined, am I spending too much time on one vice the other, or too much time on both? Am I over doing it? Talk to someone who has no clue about what you're doing. Get some perspective.

Hello Oyinz,

It appears that you are from southern Nigeria, Africa.

Welcome

People have focused on your use of saviour, evangelize, and patient "wards" I am thinking that perhaps when you say savior, you are referring to one who takes care of the sick, saves lives, etc & not necessarily meaning it in a religious sense. Am I correct in my assumption?

It may be helpful to fill in your profile and list that you are from Nigeria, or Africa, people may better understand what you are saying. Then they can focus on your question instead of one words that have a different connotation here.

Welcome to allnurses.com!

I am neither male nor young. Many years ago I was a nursing student in Los Angeles, california.

Nursing is an art and a science. You will learn the physical and biological science needed in your nursing program. It is important to learn all the rules and practice "By the book" until you have a few years of experience.

As a student you will have the opportunity to make a difference in your patients lives.

I suggest learning in the classroom and studying as much as needed.

When you begin your clinical experience put all your personal thoughts aside and focus on helping ypour patients achieve the best possible health. Each patient is a unique individual with likes and fears. Sometimes just a kind smile, looking him or her in the eye can help. It is OK to ask a patient what they think will help them feel better. Sometimes just a change of position, covering them with a sheet or blanket, or moistening their mouth can help a lot.

Watch the nurses as they care for their patients and learn from them and your instructors.

I've worked with wonderful nurses from Nigeria. One is a close friend. I was her preceptor almost 15 years ago. Based on the nurses i know from your country i am confident in the nursing education you have begun.

We are all changed by our experiences as well as what we learn in the process of becoming a nurse. I feel blessed to be able to do the important work of a nurse.

I think that, looking at your post from an American perspective, they misunderstood your message.

So, you are looking how to deal with the stress of being a student, is that right?

i see you are very far from the massacres near Chad, but it must still be difficult to know what is happening to your countrymen.
