Stressed about Financial Aid

Here is the situation - I applied for financial aid by the Fall 2007 deadline and due to some forms I needed to fill out the award process has taken longer then I had hoped. The semester starts Mon. Aug 27th and I have yet to hear anything. I have called numerous times and have been told that it is still being processed. What stresses me is that I filled out and turned in the application by the deadline so I could have the best possible chance at receiving grants so I would not have to take out any loans. Now that it is taking this long I am thinking all of the grant fund will be diminished and I will end up taking out loans even though I got everything in on time. Why me? I have the worst luck ever!! I have voiced my concerns to the financial aid department at my school but I am only told that they are unsure whether all the hold ups have decreased my chances at certain grants. By the way, the hold ups were things like income verification and asset verification. Things that I couldn't have possible known till the process began. Has anyone else gone though anything similar and can offer some advice?

Yes!!! I am going through the samething right now and I am about to start my next two classes in about two weeks and I am still waiting to here if I got the pell grant or not and I have talked to my financial aid counselor and she said it is still processing and she does not know anything yet!!! I owe $554 for my next two classes and I do not have it so i want to know if I will get the pell grant or not, so I know if i can take my next two classes or not. So i know exactly what you are going through and it can be frustrating, just hang in there ok and just keep bugging your school they should understandi hope that everything works out!!!
