Hello fellow nursing students and nurses!Just wondering what kind of stethoscope did u buy or plan to buy for nursing school? When I went to school for medical assisting, I used the cheap one the school provided from prestige medical. It was very heavy and I thought the sound quality was ok....until I purchased the littman lightweight! Omg the difference there is very noticeable. Can't believe I went so long without a littman. The sound quality is very impeccable, and let's not forget the weight of it. Much better than having that heavy, double tubing one hang around my neck all day.I'd say I made a very good choice in getting the littman. Also I was able to get it in my favorite color (lilac/light purple), I love every shade of purple and was also able to have my first and last name engraved on it.What kind of stethoscope/ clinical supplies did you guys use or plan on using? 0 Likes

I prefer the cardiology III. There are discounts for Black Friday. I have had only one stethoscope stolen so I keep a tight eye on mine now. I also bought cheap trauma shears off of ebay that I used more than the bandage scissors I was required to have. Pen light was pretty much useless except for trying to find stuff in my car. If you have a smartphone, see if your clinical site has an online access code to Lexicomp for mobile devices. It's super nice. I bought a stethoscope watch (I think it was an analog Cherokee one). 0 Likes

So far they are amazing and I can't see myself using any other kind of stethoscope. I haven't had to buy any other medical supplies yet, will probably have to do that this fall when my clinical rotations are in the hospital. 0 Likes

msbossb 75 Posts Jul 25, 2015 So far I pretty much have the basics, stethoscope, penlight, bandage scissors, b/p cuff, etc. Later on down the line I hope to get a littman classic all black edition. 0 Likes

The mdf steth got great reviews. For school I need to save everywhere so I'm happy with it. I have used someone's Littmann light and my ears are untrained yet but I could hear equally. 0 Likes

The oils in your skin cause the tubing to harden and eventually crack necessitating repair/replacement long before you should need to. 0 Likes
