Hey all,
I'm asking you if you know of a place to keep up-to-date on new meds and LARGE study results that are affecting practice.
I'm not looking for brand new med info as much as I'm looking for info on new meds that are starting to be used quite frequently for their benefitss. Regarding studies, I'm not looking for some 'healthwatch' segment on TV that states some study resulted in a certain way giving vague info. I'm looking for info on studies (preferibly large, longitudinal) that are proving usefulness or non-efficacy of certain treatments/medications.
For instance studies show Lidocaine to not work for Vtach/Vfib yet some doctors still use it. Other studies show Natrecor as being ineffective yet it's still being used. (Was there another study)
I don't subscribe to medline and plus I think it's a bit hard to navigate.
I just don't find my nursing journals are giving me said information that I seek. Thanks.

Okay, what about some of the medical journals: JAMA for instance? Maybe that would give you something more. Another option might be to get a subscription to an on-line cardiology journal that allows you to streamline it to what particular information you are looking for. Some have emails for updates too. ENA does this and I also get stuff from Advanced Nursing for Nurse Practitioners.
Trauma,
Thanks for the tips. I might look into JAMA or to an online cardiology journal, something medical to supplement my nursing literature.
