States with unlimited attempts?

i am preparing for the nclex for the second time. unfortunately, i have maxed out the number of years, before the number of attempts, that my application is valid with the state of michigan. they give you three years and six attempts. in my case, it took me a while to pay of my nursing education in order to get get my transcript released to the nursing board, then after the first attempt it took me some time to get my nerve up to take it again.

my nerve was motivated recently when i was told that i had to take the exam this may and pass it or go back to school (who goes back to nursing school!?) or apply for licensure in another state. so, needless to say i am taking it next month.

of course, i am going into the exam positive that this but i have three questions:

1) has this happened to anyone else who might not mind commenting?

2) will another state accept an application from someone whose licensure application was not successful in another state because they failed the exam?

3)which states--besides california-- have unlimited attempts?

thanks.

Good luck with your attempt in May. Hopefully you will not need to look elsewhere after you pass.
