Hi All,
I am starting West Coast University-Ontario in April 2011 . I'm doing their 3 year straight BSN program. Wanted to see if anyone out there was starting then also?
Thanks!

Hi, I almost decided on the April class but decided to cram all the prereq's that i can and may join the August class.
Hope everything goes great! Give me updates on how you like the program!
by the way, did they require that a co-signer sign for the student loans (if you got student loans)? thanks!

I was suppose to start there last year, but the cost is CRAZY and my loans had a super high interest rate so I wanted to see if I could get in elsewhere before.. I'm STILL WAITING and have enrolled myself in LA's campus for June just in case I don't get in anywhere for this fall.
A couple of my friends are in it already, one graduates in October.. I really like their program, it's just SO PRICEY! good luck!
Thanks! I was REALLY apprehensive of the cost but the community colleges are just way too over crowded and taking way too long.
I did need a co-signer since I'm doing the entire program on loans. They split the loans up, so you actually only do a loan for the first half of the program right now and then when you are half way through you do a second loan.
I have my orientation today, so we'll see how it goes....
Yes, I had to get a cosigner as well... Im just worried about being stuck with student loans forever because the interest rate for sallie mae was insane. also, check their accreditation... When I went there 2 weeks ago they still werent WASC accredited, but they said it SHOULD happen in september...
Did you get wells fargo or sallie mae??
I ended up with Sallie Mae. I'll eventually get it all consolidated anyway but the cost is definitely a huge negative.
At orientation they did speak about WASC accreditation. They will be visiting in September but not actually giving a decision until early next year. So... fingers crossed! If they do get it, that will we amazing considering I would really like to do a Masters at some point.
i TOTALLY agree.. The WASC accreditation would be AWESOME!!! My Sallie Mae loan was a variable rate of 10.4% that could go up to 25%! That's why I pushed it off.. and I hate that you have to pay while you're still in school!! weh!
Hopefully this economy will get better and they won't raise the interest rate by very much. Good luck!!! Tell me how it is because I might be joining you in June - LA campus though haha
please give us an update once you hear any good news regarding WASC for WCU, hopefully they get accredited. I'm reading posts from more than a year ago on this issue and I guess it's just been a long awaited thing for WCU. Does anyone have any information on how a non-WASC accredited school may affect your job search and/or getting into a Masters program in the future?
As far as finding a job, I don't believe the accreditation affects it at all. As long as the program is approved by the BRN. Although, I'm sure hiring managers have preferences to certain academic programs. (i.e. UC vs CSU).
On getting a masters, if WCU doesn't get approved by WASC it will definitely limit our options. Most of the state schools dont accept ACICS accreditation. (Although I believe CSUF does accept WCU students).
I guess we'll just have to wait and see... I'll definitely keep you guys updated though.

according to the prereq's list on this link http://www.kpsan.org/prereqs.php CSUF does not accept ACICS only WASC accredited schools. I also heard Kaiser and Veterns hospital do not hire WCU students I haven't looked into it. I do know WCU students do clinicals at Kaiser Permanente so I don't see why they wouldn't hire WCU students.
I believe there is a distinction between the CSUF Masters in Nursing programs and the CSUF Graduate Anesthesia program. The requirements do seem to be different for each. However, if you are trying to go to CSUF I would definitely call them directly and find out. (I would encourage you to get a response it writing.)
Meanwhile, I'm just hoping the WASC accreditation goes through... otherwise, I'll go where I can.
I was reading some of the older posts about WCU and there seems to be so much negativity about the school but about 99% seems to be about the price. They are BRN approved and CCNE approved and pending WASC.
Just wondering if anyone has actually had a bad experience with the school itself? (not pertaining to price)

The school has good education (Anaheim Campus). I heard from other people who graduated from this school. Their labs have enough equipments to train you be4 u go for your clinicals.
