Starting to take science prereq's for Nursing school, need some advice!

Published

Hey everybody!

I need four classes before I can apply to the nursing school(s) I want: human phys, anatomy, microbiology, and chemistry. I was just wondering what order would be best to take these in?

Should I take Anatomy BEFORE Human Phys? What do you suggest? Thanks in advance!!

I think taking anatomy first will help you understand the physiology, because you'll know what all the parts are and how they connect before you learn how they work. I don't think it would hurt you to take them at the same time, though. My school offered them in one combined class, which was great.

yea i definitely recommend taking anatomy before physiology. i took chem before everything and it worked out fine.

You have Bio. done, and I found that one to be the one (outside A+P obviously) that helped me the most.

Anat. before phys., after that.........mirco and chem are about the same difficulty, at least they were to me. But I enjoyed chem. more.

I agree with the other posters you should probably take anatomy before physiology, then micro. You may want to double check your school(s) course catalog though. For my school students that are going into nursing HAVE to take their science courses in sequence and some are the pre-req for others. Personally I took chem first(was a pre-req for Phys) then anatomy(had to be before phys also) taking physiology now (A&P both pre-reqs for micro), and can complete micro next semester. This is kind of a pain because it seems like it makes the sequence slow going, but personally having taken classes in that order helped me have a good starting point and I understand how everything ties in together. Good luck in your journey!!

i'm surprised the school hasn't dictated the order to you. we could only take anatomy and then physiology in that order. chemistry, or at least biology, had to be taken before microbiology.

check the college catalog. it will tell you if any of these classes have pre-requisites and what they are.
