I was just wondernig what the starting rate is for a graduating nurse from a 2 year diploma school? Then I'd like to know how much you will get paid once you pass your nclex and all that. The area I'm intersted in is Orange County, LA, or Long Beach. I've seen many different salaries and pay rates but I'm not sure if they apply to a 2 yr diploma program.
I really hope I didnt screw myself by going to a 2 year diploma nursing school!
Doesn't anyone know?

Same rate that a BSN gets, maybe a difference of $0.25 per hour or so. Wothout prior experience, the RN after your name means esentially the same thing to employers. And the rate is going to vary considerably by location, down to the city, and cost of living for that area.
If you haven't attended school in CA, then you are going to find it hard for a facility to employ you until you do take and pass the NCLEX exam.
Just because the salaries are more, the cost of living is much more, and the taxes are much more. Something else to consider.
Im going to be moving to southern california. I'm not really quite sure the area yet.. probably orange county.
I know all about the cost of living being more, and I won't be paying taxes ... I'm going to rent.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the NCLEX exam yet. Which would be better.... To take it in PA and then get my license transfered when I move to California. Or wait and just take it in California?

I was talking aobut income taxes, and you will be paying those, and more, because you will be renting and do not have a mortgage.
Licenses do not transfer, you will need to endorse to CA. You will keep the PA license unitl it expires, if you do not renew it.
What do I Have to do to endorse... just fill out more paperwork? Or will I have to take the nclex all over again?
How long does it take for licenses to expire in california? Then once they expire do you go and take the nclex again?
Once you take and pass the NCLEX exam, you never take it again. CA licenses are good for two years, and then need to be renewed. Same as with any state. Some licenses are good for four years, like Arizona, but most are for two years.
You just need to fill out more paperwork, just look at the license by endorsement application on their website, it will tell you what you need to do.

I would suggest you take the NCLEX exam in PA and then get it endorsed.

I'm going to LA count Hosp. The starting salary is 5200 amonth. THats about 33 an hour, not including differentials, bonuses, etc.But then again I have a BSN...Instead ytou might make around 5000. Do you really care if you'll be paying more taxes? I mean, any state you go to, you'll have to pay taxes. Do you honestly think you will be paying more? well, when you are making that much, guess you will have a little more to spare....THe cost of living in CAli isn't that bad. Unless you want to buy a house. Which will only bring you more headaches, drain your money, and tie you down. And I dont know where you are coming from but that little extra Californians pay in the "high cost of living" translates to a fabulous quality of life. I was born and raised in Cali and I didnt really appreciate it until I came to a place called MIami. Here nurses make 21.50 an hour, no unions, and the cost of living is very comparable to that of Los Angeles. Tell me how, on 21 dollars an hour, I am supposed to afford a 450,000 home if I wanted to buy one? Or a 1000 , one bedroom apartment? People are rude, drive like crap, and refuse to speak english. Ok, there is no state tax but look at the consequences of that....the public schools are a joke, the roads are uneven and the crime rate is sky high. Ill take the extra state tax anyday. So you go girl, move to LA or the OC, you will love it. ANd whoever is giving her advice, why don't you transfer here to Florida, then maybe you will apprecaite the Cali life.
