I wanted to ask if 21-22/hr for a new grad with no experience for nursing home is too little or okay for central valley in california?

as a new RN grad, i am not familiar with the pay rate for nursing homes.  I wanted to compare and see if it is  actually an appropriate rate for RN, so I can make decision to take the offer or not.

thanks

In San Diego, starting pay has been $25 and the highest I've seen is $32. LVN's make around $21-$24. We aren't worth much but definitely a little more than $22!!

That’s too low. That’s what our ED tech /EMT makes per hour. Try to find something else. 5 years ago the starting pay for RN new grads was near the $40s per hour.

oops sorry I didn’t see it was about nursing homes

Why do you want to start in a nursing home instead of a hospital?

As a nurse with 20 plus years of experience and now going back to the floor I’m being started at 27.00 an hour with shift diff of 2.50. New grads starting at same rate. Makes me sad to think there is no regard for experience and your degree. You get nothing extra. How is this right?

just asking because the nursing director of the USC hospital advices me against going that route. She said she doesn’t count it as relevant experience and that she would treat someone who worked for four or five years in a SNF as a new grad.
It might just be LA. Too many people want to come here.
