Starting an LVN Program in Nov. What are some good books to buy to get a jump start?

Published

Hi, I will be starting an LVN program in November of this year right after Thanksgiving and I am so excited. I would really like to spend the next 3 months getting into good study habits by reading and taking notes for a few hours a day. What are some good LVN/LPN program books/study guides that I can buy that will give me a good start in the basics I'll be learning when I begin the program? Any help would be appreciated.:)

I guess an PNclex book is always the best first choice, you will definately live by that throughout your program. It's a little bit difficult to say what exactly your program will begin with, my program started us with basic A&P, Terminology, and basic nursing skills, basically what is normal...now, we are focused on drug calculations, drugs (effects, dosages, adverse effects...), and what is abnormal. But definately an PNclex book, and we also do ATItesting.com for every rotation, it helps me, some say it doesn't, but everyone learns differently, try it out! Good Luck....

Thank you, I figured every program doesn't cover the material in the same order so a general guide to the basics will work just fine to give me a good start. I just found a good study guide for a great price on ebay. i can't wait to get it and start reading.

Lol...that's great, soon you will be saying the opposite...lol
