Home Health as you probably know is being hit hard with medicare cuts and new rules. Not to mention the surveyors are out in full force. Used to be that Hospice was your big money maker, now they to are being subject to changes. I would not open a homecare company today until I seen where all these changes are going.
Any idea when we will know by?

It takes about 18-36 months to get a medicare number. You will be paying out of pocket to see patients until you can bill m-care. There are way too many changes that are decreasing payments. Until we see how all these changes come to pass, I would not even think about it. Docs are more apprehensive about referring patients because they don't know if an agency is playing right or not. The bad guys have made it hard for the ones who want to run an agency right. Good luck to you.

Best advice: get a job at a home health agency. Work for someone else so you can see what the biz is really like before you invest your own time and money.
