Starting clinicals at Mott College

Published

I got my letter and will start clinicals in the Fall. I am so nervous, even though I waited on that list for 4 years. I can't stop thinking about it. Can I do anything else to be more prepared? What can I expect? I don't have anyone to ask these questions. Have pity on me and give me any and all advice you can :)

Thanks

Get your physical, cpr card, updated immunizations, and you will need 2 TB tests. Criminal background check.

Get all your financial aid stuff done, get extra loans if you need them. Find some good shoes. Get your uniforms and get the patches sewen on. Get a stethoscope, a watch.

Get a good drug book, medical dictionary, and a good care plan book. You'll need those for clinicals.

for the first 7 weeks it will appear like you don't have much to do b/c you only have classes 2 days a week, but for lab you have to put in more time practicing skills. So be prepared that you will be spending more time at school than it seems like.

As far as studying anything, maybe go over abbreviations and meds. And brush up on math.

And then...enjoy your summer. Because you'll have classes for 10 months in a row. :)

I'm in my first semester now. It is fun and hard and lots of studying. But it's doable.

Ditto to all of the above and enjoy it.

Welcome to MCC! :)
