hello, everyone, i just started my review today for NCLEX RN. i was giving myself 2-3 months for review and apparently now, there's this rating increase on April 1, 2010.
I am an RN in the Philippines and passed Nov'08. I can see myself being kinda pressured now because i feel like i have a deadline for april. i didn't anticipate this change because this was the given time i can finally review.
i have just 5-6 weeks to review and i don't know if that's enough. what do you guys think?
should i take the risk and take the exam on the last week of March with a lesser passing rate?
or last month of April, where there will also be a risk but at least i'd feel more ready.?
what differences do you think will be in the passing rate increase?
I'm doing self review and will enroll on Kaplan in Seattle,WA although i'm applying for Cali - BON.
id love to hear from you guys. feel free to share some tips. i definitely need them.
God bless!

You should take the test the last week in March othewise, as you know, you will be dealing with the new version.

Hi Karla!
I am in the same boat. We both are international trained nurse ( I am from Colombia ) and have the dilema. My test is schedule for March 26 and don't feel that I will be ready, I have been out school for 8 years now. In my opinion you shuold take the test when you think you ready. I am willing to move my date to Jun 9 to have plenty time to brush up my content, do tones of questions and learn more about new format. Good luck!

Hi Karla and Amira,
Well, we're all in the same boat, international trained nurses (Philippines) and I've been out of school for sooooo long! Now I am preparing to take the NCLEX for the second time. The first failure was very hard & difficult for me and I was unable to get back up again.Too scared and then, finally I realized, I should face fear and conquer it. Looked what went wrong and what held me up.
Here's what I'm doing:
First, have a real heart to heart talk with my hubby- all the way he's been so supportive from square one.
Second, staying away from negative cloud THAT WILL DRAIN YOU!
Third, sticking to my schedule
Fourth, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
Fifth, having time for myself- have fun
Lastly, eat good and healthy foods! - Enjoying my music after 5 hours of studying. :dncgbby:
Karla, if you think you are ready to take the exam before April, then do it.
I will be taking my exam by April and yes I've heard about the changes and told my ownself: "Don't let the new change overwhelm and pressure you, instead, challenge to beat it and do the best".
Good luck to you and Amira and me too!
thanks for your suggestion, i am considering it too. :) i just hope i can do it!

thanks for the thought amira, good luck to both of us! :) althought i considered taking it before april, and if i can do it in less than a month then it'd be awesome, at least it is a shot at less 5% passing rate. :)
