Have you applied to hospitals? I have always heard it's better to work in a hospital setting rather than a nursing home, when you first start nursing. But if that's the only oppty you have now, it may be ok to get experience.
I have heard from people working in north NJ hospitals, that the starting rate for BSN RNs ranges from 55-60K per year, so 25.60 is possible, but in the low range.
There are certain hospitals that may pay a bit more, and with over time, you can make alot more.

know what sucks? the immigration lawyer who's handling me told me just now that it's not 25.6 but 24/hr and i have to work 40hours/week.. huhuhu...have no choice now coz i signed a 3 year contract with the facility in the year 2006. guess i'm doomed. :down:anyways, thank you so much for the quick reply. :thankya:

I started working as an RN in North Jersey. The rate that you got is untrue. You should get at least $28/hr in a hospital setting. The difference between BSN graduates and ASN graduates are very minor, maybe .50-.75 cents/hr. As for a nursing home, I believe it is less than $28/hr. If you work evening or overnight shift at a hospital in North Jersey, you should get around $3-$4 more per hour too.
exactly! but as i've said, i'm left with no other option but to work for them bec of the contract that i signed. i'll just think of it more like of a volunteer job so I won't be depressed.thanks for the info though.i appreciate it a lot! :)
