St. Joseph Mercy Nursing student needing ADVICE

Published

Hi all,

I'm interviewing for a nurse extern position at St. Joe's and I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice, I would really appreciate it! I'm currently a BSN student with a 3.6 overall GPA and a 3.5 Nursing GPA (both constitute for honors at my university). I'm my class's class rep, I'm apart of Dean Circle (an elite group of students invited to meet every month and talk with the nursing school's dean), participate in numerous volunteer actives, am apart of the Students of nursing association) and much much more. The only work experience I have is babysitting and being a manager at a taco bell but I've learned so much from both. I really would love any advice if you guys could give me any! If any of you work there please tell me about the work environment the position is for the PACU unit!

Have you had the interview yet? Just be honest and confident. I wouldn't elaborate too much about your volunteering but rather what you have learned as whole and how you can apply this to the position

Specializes in Postpartum, Mother/Baby, Comm. Health, Geriatric.

Have you volunteered in any health care facilities? If so, I would talk about your experience there. You can also talk about how much child care/restaurant management encouraged you to go into nursing.

How did the interview go?! I'm hoping it went well :) I have an interview for a NA position in the PACU at a hospital near me. I was wondering if you have any advice for me... anything would help, thank you

Well thanks everyone I got the job! I focused a lot on my volunteering, my clinical experience and my GPA. I would just be confident going into the interview when I went she had told me I already had the job the interview was just a formality (=!

Specializes in Postpartum, Mother/Baby, Comm. Health, Geriatric.

Congrats!!!!! I can't wait to be able to make a post like this!
