Southwestern College ADN 2016

Published

Hello All,

I wanted to start this thread for those fellow applicants that applied for the Southwestern Community College Fall 2016 ADN Program. Not sure If this is a little late but I have yet to receive my notification regarding being invited or not for the program. As you can probably assume, I am extremely nervous right now and have been ever since I submitted my application. I've been in contact with Martha over there and she informed me that they were currently showing attention to the Step-Up program and they should be completed by this week. After completing their portion, the remainder of the letter will be sent out.

Has any one been offered a spot in the ADN program for the fall 2016 cohort yet?

Check your emails! I just got my acceptance letter! :)

I got my letter today too!!!

I got my letter today too!!!

Congratulations!

See you at orientation! :)

@jacjacjac I think your points are good enough!

I live 30 miles away from Southwestern nursing program.

Palomar is 20 miles.

Miracosta is 27 miles

Grossmont college is 20 miles

I really think that I have a good chance at southwestern! but it is sooo far! I mean we only go to school what 3-4 days? But 60 miles back and forth is a lot. Do you guys know what is a competitive points for palomar? or grossmont! I have about 82-83 points i think, hopefully.

When I applied to Palomar they said to have in the mid 70's to be accepted.

Shoot for 75 points! If you are not a CNA then you need to go and take the 8 week course anywhere you can, its worth 25 application points. Its essentially impossible to get in without it. If you got all A's and B's in your sciences, communications, and psychology classes then you have a really good shot. I even had a C in anatomy but I made up for it with A's in microbiology and physiology. As far as the TEAS test goes there is not much you can do to prepare in my opinion if you have not taken it already I would brush up on nursing math for sure. If you already took it and scored higher then a 70 you have a good chance of getting in. Good luck the program is awesome. When you get in (which you WILL) contact me and I will be your mentor. Its tough and it is so much hard work but it is so worth it in the end!

Hello Again,

I would like to know if its bad or not that I received a spot on the alternate list, the same day acceptance letters went out? They told me that there are 20 spots, and that could change?

do you happen to know of people getting in from the alternate list?

I'm at 71 so your better then me :)

Hello, did you get accepted or alternate by any chance?

Hey all! Hope you're doing well. Anyone hear back from SWC yet? I was accepted & supposed to start the LVN-RN program this summer. But I don't think I'll be going through with it. I just got hired as an OB tech at a Kaiser hospital here in the Bay Area so I'm waiting to hear back from the local school I applied to up here. I may just accept my offer from SWC in the meantime & pay the fee if I have to withdraw. Right now I don't think it's a good idea to leave Kaiser since it's sooo hard to get in. Fingers crossed I get accepted to the school here. Then I can free up a space for someone else to get into SWC's step up program.

Congratulations on your new job as OB tech!!! There is a new page Southwestern College ADN Fall 2017. I was accepted early March.

I am in the SWC program if any one has questions. I am a weekend/evening student in the 2nd/4 semesters.

Do you feel like this program is better than San Diego City college? or have you heard anything regarding the comparison of the two?
