Southern California ADN/ABSN/ELM programs

Published

Hello everyone,

just posting here because honestly I am very discourage about life right now. I would really like to become a RN. I already have my bachelor's degree but did not finish off at a great gpa lower than 3.0 more like a 2.5. I know, horrible, but I was younger and had other issues that seemed more important. At this rate, I was thinking about applying to the community colleges in so-cal mainly grossmont and maybe miracosta. I am actually hoping for grossmont. I have proficiency in another language, volunteer experience, and bachelors..I was wondering if you have any tips, I am retaking my pre-req courses in order to meet the recency issue hopefully this semester or next and will be taking the TEAS, please any hopeful advice would be great.

Other options also. PLLLEEAAAAAASE~

I think the ADN is probably the best route for you. The GPA for ADN is lower than ABSN or ELMSN. I don't think you'd meet the requirements for those kinds of programs. But don't worry. It might take longer but you will still be an RN with an ADN. You can get your BSN later.

Just be sure that you get straight A's from here on out. Especially on all of the pre-req's you're going to retake. You need to show that you're a better student now and you want to master the material before going into a nursing program.

I'd also suggest you apply to more than 2 schools. Nursing programs all over California are impacted at all degree levels. So you want to increase your chances of getting accepted somewhere. Apply to 4 at the minimum. More if you can.
