Specializes in ICU.

Hi all! I am graduating in a few days and I have an interview at SGMC on 5/1. Does anyone here work there now? Past employees/volunteers? I'd love to hear something about the place if possible. Do you like your job? :)

I also have an interview in early June at SGMC. How did yours go? Any advice or tips you'd like to share? I'm interviewing for one of their MSICU positions straight out of school. I grad in Aug. from the University of Portland. Thanks

PMed you. :) I hope you do well!

Congratulations you must be a very accomplished student!! I appreciate the information, especially since this will be my first interview for a nursing position. I too am stuck on what to do about licensure, either to license in my home state or wait until I hear back from this interview. How long did it take to hear back from SGMC when they offered you the position? I'm flying out from Portland, OR on the 18th interviewing the 19th so it should be an adventure. Hopefully we'll be working together this fall. Thanks again for taking the time to brief me on your experience.

(I would pm you back but I haven't yet reached the minimum amount of posts)

Thanks for the heads up. I think I will wait up until my university's deadline in July before I decide what state to license in. That is unbelievable that they make you wait so long and require you to re-do the fingerprinting and background process. I'm getting restless to interview, I can't imagine how annoying it must be to have the position and be waiting on the licensure process.

Interview went great and I accepted a FT night shift position this last week. My orientation starts Sept. 16, so I should be starting a couple months after you! It's crazy, I only found out about sgmc because I saw you post about them opening a critical care tower on this forum! but it works out great because my wife will be going to VSU and we both love warm weather :). Looking forward to working with you when I get there in Sept.
