South Florida CRNA Application

Hey all,

I wanted some advice on applying to CRNA school. I would ideally like to get start my journey in school no later than 2024, but I still have some work to do. Here is where I’m at, and please everyone feel free to share their journey below and hopefully we can all help each other.

I was looking to apply to Barry before the November deadline but I have all the prereqs besides the GRE and CCRN and unfortunately the GRE has seemed to be a bigger feat than I thought (although I did well in nursing school, BUT I virtually had to take no math and I graduated high school with my GED so I don’t have a strong math background).

That being said, I want to take the GRE 3 months from now with extensive help from a tutor and then take the CCRN.

My other stats are:

- 4.0 GPA RN program GPA

- 3.74 GPA BSN program

-didn’t do so hot in some prereqs and LPN school.

main goals to counter act that is to:

- take my A&P again (I got a C the first time)

- I got an A in chem but it’ll be 6 years since then so I have to retake it

and then I’d like to know, has anyone applied to CRNA school with Portage Learning credits? It’s regionally accredited but all online and has virtually no prereqs required for classes like statistics compared to traditional college settings which could honestly take me years to qualify for the course I want to take…

I was thinking to do introduction to algebra, statistics, and retake my chem with them. If it goes well I will do their introduction to biochem and organic chem courses if I have time….

I live in south Florida, so I am hoping for Barry, UM or FIU acceptance but also willing to try Keiser, Advent health, and FGCU. My support system is down here so ideally it would be down here……please let me know what you guys think about my prep and strategies and any tips are welcome. Just a bummer that some of these schools wait 2 years to start after you’re accepted…. I’m trying to tell myself this is a journey not a race but I do want to reach my goals sooner rather than later! Wishing you all the best as well in the admission process….

Step 1:  Join CRNA Prep School Academy.
Step 2: repeat step 1 until complete.
You will have advice from SRNAs, CRNAs, mentors and other ICU nurse who are doing exactly what you are doing now. On allnurses (which is great in its own way) people hide behind a computer and can give you advice that may not be helpful. But don’t take my word for it. Check out CRNA Prep school academy! There is a facebook group you can join and post your question there. I have received so much feedback and advice from people who have ACTUALLY been through the process. (I’m not being paid or anything to write this LOL I just want to tell you this!)

Good luck! ??
