I just graduated from MUSC last year, and I had to take the GRE to get in, so I'm not sure how they're computing the SAT into everything. I do know that it was pretty much the GRE that made us competitive. So maybe you can take the SAT again if you're not happy with the score. I didn't do stellar on the GRE, and still got in.

Also, there were quite a few out of state people in my class. I am relieved, although the program flew by!! and most of us got jobs before we graduated so don't worry about that. If you have any other questions about the program or anything...just message me!

Well, I just applied to the Accelerated BSN program February 1, 2009 and got accepted. They said they no longer require a GRE score, which is good because I have never taken it. I did have to take the SAT at the last minute, literally, and was able to take it on standby 2 days after finding out I needed it. Ahhh! Needless to say I did not have time to study and have not taken a math class since high school 10 years ago. I was able to score a 28, though, which was apparently good enough to get me accepted along with my 4.0 on prerequisites. I start the program this Fall 2009. I have always heard that they weigh heavily on GPA.

Hi everyone...I will be applying for the Spring 2010 program and I am so nervous about getting in. I have been volunteering in the ED at a hospital and taking my prereqs. I also have some experience working at a pysch hospital a few years ago. I am worried that my SAT score will not be good enough - I took it 10 years ago, I think I barley broke 1000. My GPA from college was only a 2.9, but i've been taking classes now and my GPA from the recent classes is a 3.8 - Anyone know how they come up with the overall GPA?

I also am not from SC, do they prefer in state applicants over out of state? I was trying to look for stats on previous accepted students for this program, but i can't find anything. If anyone has input for any of my questions above I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

long shot, old thread I know.. But I have similar stats to this. What are my odds of getting into MUSC?

Oh, no! ...I wasn't implying that at all! I am in no position to judge, just in the same boat as you and suggesting what I tell myself - stop thinking about it and just do it :)

I have some family down there and my best friends from college moved down 5 yrs ago - the program is exactly what i am looking for and it's right in Charleston. The passing rate for graduates of this program is very high and i want to stay down there when i'm finished. Many other reasons, but these are the ones that really stand out.

I am applying for Spring 2010, so I will be submitting my application within the next week or so. Regardless, i will be moving down in January.

Keep me updated with you as well! best of luck to both of us!

I am an applicant for spring start. Does anyone know what the schedule is like first semester??? I am a stay at home dad right now while I work on prereqs and we are trying to figure out daycare for when(yeah I wish I were that confidant) IF I get in.

I think it is funny that this thread is still around:) I graduate in Dec., yay! As far as the first semester schedule goes, it is really crazy. Most weeks, I spent around 50-60 hours a week between commuting/parking, class/clinicals and homework. Some things in your schedule are set like class, labs and clinicals, but there are all kinds of things that come up that you need or want to go to. (Study sessions, test review sessions with your instructor, etc.) If you don't have a friend or family to help with child care, I think it would be really difficult, but not impossible. There are some evening clinicals usually too, so keep that in mind. If you don't like your assigned schedule, generally you can find someone willing to switch with you. Unless things have changed, there is never anything scheduled on the weekends during 1st semester. Other semesters can have weekend clinicals. After 1st semester, you have more time, but it really isn't any easier. But you will be amazed by how much you learn in 16 months. They don't call it accelerated for nothing:)
