I was finally called for an interview for position as a Registered Nurse (I'm a new grad btw) and this woman gave me a time and day, but then I realized I have orientation that day for school and that's the only day I can sign for classes, and it's mandatory so I call her up and she says she'll ask the administrator and call me back. So I wait, never hear back from her so I call her back, and she says they are moving on to other candidates now. I never heard of giving one day and time to interview. So I ask if I can speak to the administrator who I would be interviewing with, she says she left already so I ask for her number and she refused to give it to me. The whole thing seemed very strange to me so I call the main number and this guy at human resources told me that they usually do have diff rounds of interviews and not just one time and give me her number. Should I call back tomorrow?

I'd call for sure. What's the worse that can happen?

It is a little weird to just up an not want to interview over not being able to do it at the one time you are given. However, it brush off could have been due to them finding out you were in school. They may se it as you being able to only work certain hours and not be as flexible. Or it could be nothing. In either case, I would call the administrator who you would interview with and see if they will allow you a different day and time. GL

It is an employer's market. I'm sure there were many applicants for this position. If one applicant cannot make a specific interview time, they will just move to the next applicant who applied for the same position who can make that specific interview time. If they need someone who can start working by a specific time why should they delay it because one applicant cannot make a interview Time? There are hundreds of other applicants who could interview and start right away. And besides, you are a new grad, it's not like you have exceptional experience to offer that would make them want to wait for you. It's very competitive out here.
Yup, the admin told me there was a large pool and I offered to come earlier in the wk for the interview but it consists of a panel. This is very frustrating been looking for almost a month and this was my first call back.

If you don't mind me asking, which hospital was this? Are you sure the only way you can register for school is at the orientation? Many schools offer several orientations, or allow you to register for courses online. I would've went to the interview and found a way to rearrange the school situation instead. Schools will usually work with you because you are paying to go there, whereas employers have people beating down the door to get in, so they are not as flexible.
