Hi Everyone,
I'm new to all this so you will have to bare with me. I am still studying at the moment in the UK and I am looking to emigrate to Australia as soon as I can due to the lack of jobs here. I have been researching online regarding the experience required to start work in Oz and it seems that every site I have looked at has different information from the last one.
I hope someone has some info for me regarding how long after I qualify I have to work here before I can get a job abroad.
Thanks in advance for any response
RachaelR :)

That, but I'd also recommend at least a year under your belt. And absolutely don't apply for or accept a position in rural or remote nursing straight off the plane! Good luck :)

Hi I know somebody who studied in the UK and moved to Australia about a year ago. She said because she does not have experience like yourself now, she had to undergo what we call a graduate nurse program. It usually runs for a year and divided into 3 or 4 placements in the same hospital. Mind you things might have changed since because we all recently moved to AHPRA so best to check their website. As for jobs here, it's not as great as it was a year ago so do your homework. Goodluck

The more post-graduate experience you have the more likely you are to get a job here - but remember do not apply for "rural and remote" unless the hospital is over 20 beds minimum
