Sometimes, I just feel like such a bonehead!

And that my day was a total failture .. .but gosh darnit, I shouldn't!!! Yesterday I handled what was an extremely busy day. Two discharges, two admits, one right after the other, and one patient fresh from the OR, and the other who needed blood. I managed it all with not a lot of help and almost clocked out on time, yet made some STUPIDO mistake entering in vitals on the blood hanging. Also screwed up something with labs -- I mean, it's just goofy administrative stuff that I have such a hard time with. Unfortunately, the nitpickers on the unit love to see you stumble with this, love to lecture you on it and it just negates every GOOD thing you did all day -- manage tough patients, make everyone happy, keep everyone alive and safe, get everyone where they're supposed to be, etc, etc.

I work part time, so the admin stuff is hard to keep straight. I'm only there on weekends and I tend to forget the smaller details. We also had one of our goofier charge nurses there who helps w/ NOTHING and just always times the admissions in a crazy manner. Just saps any sort of fulfillment one might find with the job . . .
