Hi everyone,
So here comes a rant.
I'm in my first semester of college and I'm failing a remedial math class because I can't seem to get past geometry. To make matters worse, my English class is torture. The professor never shows up, gives grades late, doesn't respond to emails, is an extremely tough grader (doesn't give any higher than a 90 because she says "no one is perfect"), and acts hostile when asked any questions about anything. Other students in my class have gone to the dean about her but she's the chair of the department so nothing gets done. Students over the last two years posted on ratemyprofessor.com that they, too, had gone to the dean and nothing came of it. I'm doing fairly decent with A's and B's but I'm starting to get C+'s now. I don't even have time to study for my math class now because as the semester is coming to a close, my English professor has increased the workload, now requiring us to revise two essays twice a week, submit new essays once a week, and two responses once a week. I have no time for any other class now.
I know nursing school is going to be extremely hard and I'll have to suck it up and get through it and I'm ok with that. I also don't expect it to be easy to get there, but I am so very discouraged. I feel like a failure.
Did anyone else have an awful start to college?

It took me 3 attempts to get statistics out of the way because the first two did not know how to each at all. Ratemyprofessor is a wonderful tool and I plan on using it every single semester because of stats. Awful start? No, I didn't. Though, I do have a pretty awful medsurg applied assessment teacher. :-p

Most nursing programs will only look at your Statistics and most advanced English class, Speech, and Critical Thinking course. If you don't do very well on those basic math/english classes, just make sure you really understand the content by the time you get to the more advanced classes. Universities themselves WILL look at those basic classes though, since they count towards your overall GPA.

I took an English class and it wasn't bad at all. But I was pregnant and so so sick half the time o didnt go to clasd. Seeing I crack in the ground would make me heave : ((. I think I turned in most assignments and papers but missed many quizes and ended with a C as well as a fashion clss I took the semester. These classes were both fairly easy but I didnt do well my gpa took a plummet. It really did takr a lot for me to even go the times I went I felt absolutely miserable so in a way im not devastated. B i truly did the best I could at the time. *shudders* I detested my first trimester.
