I graduated from the ADN Program on May 5th. I have interviewed for several different positions. It seems that when I go in for the interview, the NM is either; on vaction, called off, or just isn't available! :angryfire
I interviewed twice at IU...two different floors...totally unrelated.
Once at Regional for 15 minutes [1 hour drive 1 way] :angryfire
Went to Union on June 1st for a HR interview. My car broke down and I was stranded for 7 hrs in Terre Haute!! :angryfire
Went back to Union on the 2nd and interviewed with the NM on a Med/Surg floor.
On the 8th, I interviewed with my local hospital BUT the NM had gone on vaction the day BEFORE my interview,,,so I interviewed with the Nursing Director who won't make a decision w/o the NM. :angryfire
On the 17th I got another interview with Union for a float position. I was scheduled to do the interview today....but my van needs a timing chain and I have NO MONEY!!! :angryfire
I had to call and cancel this one.
I am so frustrated!! Has anyone else interviewed for several different positions at the same hospital?
Why can't HR use the first interview with whatever floor I interviewed for to just hire me?
I have NO MONEY and no way to get to the interviews!! We are so broke it's unreal!
My husband's work cut his hours so he is only bringing in about $400.00 a week instead of $600.00.
I can't register to take the NCLEX until I get a job and they don't want to hire me unless I am registered to take the NCLEX!!
PLEASE!! Will someone advise me? What am I doing wrong? I wear a conservative dark grey suit to the interviews. I think I do well but I don't have a job yet!!
Thanks!!

Failure is NOT an option!!
Update! I was able to reschedule my appointment to 2 different interviews on Thursday at 1 & 2 PM!
PLEASE pray that I get the job. I am so tired of telling my kids that they will get some nice stuff when I get a job. They have been really patient and I feel as though I have let them and my husband down!!

Good luck. I took the NCLEX in Indiana and it wasn't a requirement to have a job in order to take the test - is that something new? Good luck.

Hey Karen, can you borrow some money to get your car fixed? Maybe work closer to home? How about a part time job at a SNF while you study to take your nclex? Maybe tell your kids that they are lucky that they have a Mom and dad who love them.... good luck

Oh Karen, you will be in my prayers this night. It is difficult when you first start out, school takes alot (money and nerves). Just keep doing what you are doing, and you will be fine. Your children have been patient, I'm sure, and they will get a reward too. AFTER mama does. :)
I got a JOB!!! :balloons:
I am employed at Good Sam on their Rehab Unit!! I am SOOOOOOO excited and relieved. This hospital was my first choice because for right now, I can walk to work!! :) It is less that 4 blocks away!!
I start out as a nurse extern and make $11.50 an hour. After I pass boards I will make $16.00 an hr + 10% for nights and 10% for weekends!! :balloons:
My shift will be 11 PM to 7 AM 4 days a week 3 weekends a month!
My youngest son [10] jumped up and down and screamed, "MOM HAS A JOB!" Then all 3 of my boys ran into the bedroom and told their Daddy that MOM HAS A JOB!! He came flying out of the bedroom and did the money dance. I was still on the phone HR and she laughed because she could hear them. In fact, she said, "I take it that you are accepting the offer, right?" I laughed and said YES!!!
My daughter was babysitting and I had to call her afterwords. She almost broke my eardrum with her scream!!
I go in Tuesday July 4th for my chest x-ray and labs and Thursday for my physical.
I start on July 11th!! :balloons:
Thank you all for your prayers!
God bless each and everyone of you!!
I will keep you posted!!
