Well today is Aug 23 and I've read that several of you were starting school today. How was it?
We started today and it wasn't as bad as I expected. Actually it wasn't bad at all. The instructors seemed nice and appeared to care how well we do. Most of the day was spent going over stuff with only some lecture time. The one scary thing they said was that school gets harder each semester. The one thing that was a little disappointing was that I thought our 1 hour courses (Pharmacology and Assessment) were strictly skills labs but they are lecture and we have to make time to go to the lab after class hours (bummer). Hope everyone else had a good first day too (other than a tired butt from sitting so long):)

I'll let you know when I start on the 30th. Just got done printing out two of my syllabi (sp?) which have been e-mailed to me by my instructors and making sure I have the right books (so far it seems that I do except that according to my pharmacology syllabus, I have to find a "Medical-Nursing Dictionary"). Glad to hear that your day went well. Gives me some hope :).
you can probably find a Taber's or Mosby's medical dictionary at the campus bookstore or online at amazon.com

Meh. My CI is going to be ossim, the teachers I have for some other classes, not so much. I'll deal, but it'll hurt.

First day is always easy and fun, the better question to ask is "how was your first month?"

Well, I only had two hours of practical nursing lecture. Most of it was spent going over stuff, meeting everyone else, and expectations. I've got a strict instructor.
Right now I feel lost. I have tomorrow off so I'm going to finish up my lab worksheets due on Wednesday morning. I'm trying to figure out how to organize everything. That will probably come in time.

Spent 7am - 2:30pm in Patho today. Tomorrow we jump into Theory in the morning and then Skills in the afternoon. Had an informational orientation during class and then went right into immunity. First exam is on Monday. Great to be here and keeping busy.

My first day was FANTASTIC! We spent an hour covering our calendar and syllabus took a 10 minute break and toured our skills lab. We really got the chance to get to know one another and what to expect from our instructor. The only thing that really concerned me was that EACH of the 6 exams has to have a score of 77 or higher in order to advance. Im sure that I'll be fine, but once I realized that it wasn't a cumulative 77% I panicked a little bit. But that's just all the more motivation to study harder! Oh and our grading scale freaked me out too:
A 100-93
B 92-84
C 83-77
Whew! Guess I'd better be ready to accept grades other than all A's!

First day for me was a clinical/lab setting day so we had a 3 hour look at the syllabus / calendar and called it a wrap.

Disrespectful students.
Really dumb questions asked by students (Why can't we wear Crocs to clinicals?)
Aggravating texting/cell phone use during class.
Meaningless chatter among the post high school students.
Arrogant classmates.
There you have it, my first day of nursing school. D R A M A.
