Snf jobs in sacramento?

What are the working conditions like in SNF in sacramento now? Last time I did SNF work, I quit one facility because, patients got bed sores too often. This was in the mid seventies. In 1998, after checking out a few SNF's I found most of the homes smelled like Urine right at the reception desk. I was lucky to start working in psych, where I didnt have to deal with the issues at the SNF's. But I need med surg experience now, for my Rn school or for the clinical exam. So my questions are...If i dont have recent experience will I have to work night shift? What are my chances of getting a job without recent SNF or acute care experience of getting a job here in sacramento?
