Does anyone know if University Hospital in San Antonio won't hire you if you do not pass their nicotine screening test? Or are they just testing to decide health insurance/benefits packages?

The best place to find your answer is from the HR department of the facility. They will have the accurate information you need if it isn't clearly stated on the facility website. My facility's website has a little pop up when you go to search for jobs that testing positive for nicotine means one won't be hired and must wait 6 months before reapplying. The information you seek may be on the Job Search website of the facility, but if it's not, give HR a call.

Definitely check with HR. My facility uses it to increase what you will have to pay for health care coverage.
