Slippery Portable Steps = Guarenteed Injury. Any Known Solutions?

It's only 9:25 AM here in grey, dreary Dallas and I have already had two students come in with injuries after slipping and falling on portable building steps. We are WAY too big for our school and have 10 (yes, TEN) portable buildings that have been here over a decade, but were never supposed to stay for more than 6 months. I want to address the issue with our principal and property management personnel, but I'm not sure what to propose. Have any of you dealt with this? Any solutions known to be relatively inexpensive but effective? Thanks y'all!

Grip tape? Not too expensive. Won't help today, but future.

Agreed with the grip tape, they also make paint that has sand or something in it that is used for ramps.

I would let admin know asap, they may be blissfully unaware. I know when two or more kids get hurt on any specific thing my admin likes to know. Of course, the stupid monkey bars are still here... But I digress.

Oh my goodness YES! I think it's a tie between the monkey bars and the portable steps for causing the most injuries at this school.

My princicipal reads all the accident reports (much smaller school than you I am sure) but I would address the numbers and types and severity of said injuries...RISK MANAGEMENT, baby!

That. Crazy risk especially as we get colder in the NTX. Not much snow but ice is a real possibility.

i'm s little surprised that there isn't already some sort of traction on the steps. Yes - grip tape for the win!!

I just hope they belong to the school and you aren't caught in some limbo of the school and company that owns the buildings arguing it out. After 10 years, I guess they aren't leased buildings. That's insane that they have been there that long.
