title should read: skip a semester.......
here is the issue i am facing right now. there are three bsn programs in the area i wish to apply to. over the past couple of months 2 of them have made it a requirement you have all your major sciences (ap1/2, micro, chem) completed before you can even apply. (it was my understanding before that you could have some 'in progress' as long as they'd be complete by the time of admission). so this leaves me with only 1 bsn program i can apply to for fall 2011 entry since i'm taking ap2, micro, & chem in the spring. i'm taking the teasv for this school on the 20th and as long as i do well with that i'm confident i can at least make it to the pile of applications to 'look at'. unfortunately, i'm very concerned they will not accept me strictly on the basis of the ws i have on my transcripts (not in any nursing related class but still) from a couple years back. i've heard this school really looks down on ws. i'm applying, but if i had to put into a percentage my chance of getting in, i'd only give myself about a 20% based on how many classes i've withdrawn from over the years.
the earliest i can apply to the other two schools is for spring 2012... this will leave me twiddling my thumbs for an entire semester.
there is an adn program (point based) i'm also interested in as a backup plan. they've had a 100% nclex pass rate for the last 5 years running.. i already have a lot of points and after going to the school and taking their accuplacer reading test i can get up to 40 more points. they actually don't finish compiling points from classes until the end of the spring semester so my three spring classes will get counted too. i feel on the basis of points alone i have a very good chance of getting into this school for fall 2011.
of course if i get into neither school- i'll have no choice but to wait and apply everywhere for spring...
my question is- if you could get accepted into an adn program a semester sooner than getting into a bsn, which would you choose? (and this is assuming one of the three bsn programs accept you)
thanks for your thoughts and advice.

I'd get that "RN" behind my name as quickly as I could. There are a TON of RN-BSN programs out there that you can complete once you graduate. Heck, depending on what it is you would like to do in nursing, you could just go the RN-MSN route.
Good luck.

I agree with Kristey. You would be upset if neither program accepted you after you waited. And there is no way to know ahead of time. Better to go for the bird in the hand.
Thanks you guys! I'm definitely leaning in that direction..
