SICU @ Detroit Receiving Hospital

Published

I'm about to be a graduate nurse from MSU with some experience at DRH in the emergency department as one of their student nurse associates and will be taking my boards early July. I was wondering if anyone has some experience up on 4Q (one of DRH's SICU's), or anyone over at Harper in their cardiothoracic ICU? I would really like to stay within the DMC system and also really want to do some critical care nursing when I'm finished with school. If anyone has any stories about their experience in DMC's SICU's it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-

FWIW, I got a job offer after an interview at DRH in an ICU, toured the unit and was kinda turned off by how archaic it felt. I opted to stay within the same hospital I was at prior to graduation after another offer came through. Have you been up to the ICU's transporting patients at all, or do they only have RN's travel with patients on transfers?

I have been up there a few times transporting patients with some of the nurses but I really haven't gotten a good feel of how the unit actually is. What hospital did you end up at, and are you still doing ICU?
