Applying to PA and RN @ Same Institution

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Good afternoon --

Curious as to what your thoughts are applying to both the PA Program and Accelerated BSN program at the same school. The goal is to have a backup if PA doesn't work out.

- Do you disadvantage your PA application once they see you've already applied to RN as well?

- Do people commonly apply to both at the same school?

- Any general thoughts on the topic?

Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to follow up & see if anyone had thoughts on the above question. Thanks again.

Thoughts: Many competitive nursing schools include an interview with staff as part of their acceptance process. The staff at our school flatout said they want to know that nursing is a priority or calling for those attending. If you show up and say, "I applied because I didnt get into Med school." They will NOT let you in. And they have had students admit this.

So if you have to interview and they know you also applied to the PA program they are likely to question your commitment and priorities to nursing and may decline to offer you a seat in the program.
