I am in Texas and am taking the CPN soon.I am wondering, when you receive a certification in your specialty, does that also give you CNE's towards renewing your license? Have not been able to find anything out about this. Thank you.

Generally, no. But the classes/education you may have needed to prepare for the exam may count for CEs.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

If you have to take classes it should. I went to a exam review for ortho certification and I got 8 hours for that.

It might. In my state (NC), the BON accepts national certification or recertification by recognized national credentialing organizations.

Virginia is another state that accepts national certification in a specialty as evidence that you have kept up-to-date.
