Do hospitals hire FNP-C?

I understand the scope of practice is sometimes state specific. With that being said, do hospitals/acute care frown on FNP-C vs FNP-BC? Will one affect my career negatively perhaps?

I live in Southern Illinois and FNPs (new grad and those with primary care experience) are hired to work in the Acute Care setting frequently in my area.

I live in urban Illinois, and I know a few FNPs in acute care.

Loads of IP FNP jobs where I live. Don't let people tell you it is one way or the other as it really depends on where you live.

You also have to attempt to forecast this to some degree. The powers that be are really trying to push the consensus model. Larger hospital systems or areas that have a high number of providers are able to be more selective - and are. I think 10 years from now more and more areas will hire PAs and ACNPs for inpatient and the FNP will be stuck in outpatient.

Plus, NP programs are shooting themselves in the foot right now as it is with the poor preparation of most NPs upon graduation. Who knows how this will impact the job market.
