So we can't wear clogs...

I was recently accepted into a nursing program and found out that we cannot wear clogs. I am so upset because I love my Danskos. They are well broken-in, and have proven to be great when having to mostly stand for 10+ hr shifts.

So with that said...any recommendations? I wouldn't mind a sneaker, though I don't know if I will really be flying around on clinicals. Also, I have heard some stories about fluids, etc. getting on sneakers, and being harder to clean. The Danskos are great since I could just wipe them off. :arghh: I am looking at the Timberland Renova Pro, would this be considered a clog too?

Do you have foot issues? I wear New Balance walking shoes.

I wear Keen's at work and love them. They are very comfortable and give good support.

Does your nursing program differentiate between closed and open back shoes? When you refer to clogs, do you mean open back?

I'm asking because Dansko makes clogs that are closed back (granted, my wife tells me they are not clogs even though they are marked as such).

When I think of clogs, I think of slip on, open back shoes. I would think the regular Danskos would be o.k. Our school says no clogs and a large portion of us have Danskos or a similar style.

My Danskos are te professional line that are closed in with an actual heelcup. Sadly I am hearing these are not allowed.

I expect to probably pay about the same for a good pair of shoes. My reservation with most sneakers are the laces, the openings, which i would kind of like to avoid in case of "spills."

I don't have a particular problem with my feet. I have worked in positions where a lot o standing was involved, and Danskos were very good for this. Any more suggestions? I plan on going to a store where they specialize in "comfort" and "service-industry" shoes. Thanks!

I wear New Balance walking shoes.

Exactly what I use. I need a wide width in a shoe, and New Balance is one of the few athletic shoe manufacturers who produce shoes in wide widths. I have never been disappointed.

No danskos, that sucks. I liked shaped up sketchers. They would be my first choice if I wasn't allowed to wear my danskos.
