PPS tracking form

I know you all have heard this request before, but I am looking for a PPS/medicare daily tracking form. I used to work where we had one that updated days used when the date was changed at the top of the page. The cells had formulas in them that calculated. The one that I am using now at my new job has to be updated manually everyday. We run 24-28 medicare per day usually, with admissions and discharges everyday. Updating this one manually is time consuming, confusing, and leaves a lot of room for error. Does anyone have a template for something that will calculate days for you?

Thanks.

The updated version of the PPS calculator I am working on is almost finished. I'm currently writing the instructions for how to use it and we are testing the calculations. COTs are complicated so the only way I could think to handle them was to have Excel auto-calculate the due dates of the COTs IF you enter the appropriate dates of all PPS assessments that are performed for all scheduled and unscheduled PPS MDS (ARD and O0450B).

However, if you don't want to maintain everything electronically, the PPS calculator will still be usable for calculating scheduled PPS due dates (given an electronically-entered admission/reentry date) and then it can be printed and you can track scheduled and unscheduled PPS on paper. You just have to figure out the COT due dates yourself.

I have attached 2 preview screenshots. The COT due dates are highlighted in yellow. Comments and improvements are appreciated.

Update

The MDS3 PPS Assessment Calculator I am revising is currently being tested. I hope to have a final version ready for distribution some time next week. Even after testing, I will have to release it with a disclaimer that, by using the MDS3 PPS Assessment Calculator, you tacitly agree to not hold me or my organization liable for any MDS completed incorrectly due to use of the calculator. That being said, I feel confident that some people will find it to be a useful tool. At the very least, it may teach you something about the Oct 2011 MDS 3.0. I know I learned a lot during the development process of the calculator.

Please send a copy of the new PPS Scheduler to [email protected] and thanks. Not sure I am up to all these changes again. :o

Hi Andy, I too would love a copy. Will it be posted in CMS somewhere when it is available? If so could you let us know where and when so you dont have 6 million requests to keep up with, please? If it is only able to be emailed then I would indeed like one... sure hope in this case you are keeping a list somewhere! Thank you for all your work on it. [email protected]

I would also like a copy of this. Thank you for all of your hard work, it truly is appreciated. [email protected]

I've made changes to the PPS Assessment Calculator based on the most recent information released by CMS. I have also added the option for color coding the various types of PPS (5-day, 14-day, etc.). I am still waiting for the lawyers to give me the disclaimer language before I can distribute. I will announce the website where the form is posted as soon as it is available - it will not be on the CMS website as I am not a CMS employee. Believe me, I'm working as fast as I can to make it public.
