Should the nursing home have been able to prevent this?

Published

We have a pending wrongful death lawsuit against a nursing home. The case hinges on whether or not the home should have noticed signs and symptoms and neglected them.

84 y/o with dementia.. when placed in home needed only 1 high blood pressure pill daily and had some constipation problems. Other than that physically healthy.

Here is what the resident was brought into the ER with 8 months later:

GI Bleed

Coma

diarrhea

vomiting

severe dehydration

significantly hypotensive

significant electrolyte disturbance

significantly hyperkalemic

acute kidney failure

severe urinary tract infection

septic shock

severe sepsis - caused by the UTI based on ER records

stage 4 pressure ulcer on coccyx

was placed in hospice....
