Should I wait till I get appoval from the board before registering with Pearson?

Published

NCSBN bulletin is really confusing on the process. It says:

1. Submit application to the board.

2. Meet board's requirements.

3. Register for exam with Pearson.

4. Receive registration confirmation from Pearson.

5. Board makes candidate eligible.

6. Receive ATT from Pearson.

This list makes me think I have to register with pearson (3) before board makes me eligible (5)? :uhoh3:

With NCLEX PN and RN I sent off the Board application, with picture and finger prints before I registered with pearson... As soon as I registered with pearson, I got my ATT. It just depends on the state you are in...call the board and check...

Yeah, I guess, I'll have to call...

you can still register with pearsonvue now. I did mine a week apart from eath other. Most of my classmates did both together.

The director of our program is the one that submitted our stuff to the board so as soon as I knew that she did it I signed up with Pearson. It only took about a week to get the ok to test from Pearson. Congratulations and good luck.

i got the letter that I was eligble from ca board of nursing then i registered with pearson vue.

Same here, once I recieved my eligibility from the BON then I registered with Pearson Vue.

I called the board they said to wait too.

Definitely wait for eligibility from the board before registering with Pearson VUE for the NCLEX-RN exam. Once you get eligibility from your respective board of nursing, they forward your candidate details to Pearson VUE. So once you register online (which is what I would recommend since it's definitely the fastest) and pay the $200 testing fee, they would send your ATT via email like a minute later for you to print out. A "via mail" option is also available, but would take a bit longer. All you need to do then is to schedule your exam.

It is possible to register with Pearson VUE before receiving eligibility from your board of nursing, however, your exam fee and registration will only be valid for 365 days. So if you run into a snag and do not get eligibility from your board of nursing, you can't get a refund for the NCLEX fee and it will expire within a year if you are not able to resolve the problem.

Generally if trained in the US then you are ok to pay pearsonvue as soon as you want from graduating. If a foreign trained nurse then always wait for eligibility in case there are any delays or problems with your application

I did my registration with the Board and with pearsonvue two weeks prior to graduating I recived my ATT less than a week after graduation. I did that for both my PN and RN NCLEX. I was the first one in my class to pass both.
