Should I do an LPN/LVN program if I can't get accepted to a ADN/BSN program

I currently hold a Bachelors degree and work in IT security and am looking to get a second degree in Nursing. I live in DFW area so I have quite a few choices. I should be applying to about 7 programs a year from now. Would anyone recommend applying to both RN and LVN and falling back on LVN if I don't get accepted to an RN or BSN program assuming I get accepted to LVN and not RN?

Why wouldn’t you hedge your bets?

Many people follow that plan. Should you become an LPN first, you then have LPN to RN programs as an option.
