Should I go from CA to AZ"??

Published

Is anyone going through the ASN program through Gateway Community College, or any of the MARICOPA COMMUNITY COLLEGES?

I am a CA resident and have been going to College of the desert, with a transfer into Sac State for there nursing program.. I really found myself changing from Polotical Sci to nursing about 8 months ago, am a CNA right now and love it, cant wait to be an RN and then go on from there..

However, I dont qualify for my program as COD because i had to repeat Chem.. I still have two pre reqs of Ant. and Phy 1& 2... in CA all places go off a merit system and even once I finish pre reqs im told i'll probably be waiting at least another year or so before it happens..

I have heard great things about some of AZ programs, and once you finish pre reqs most students get in, its not as impacted as CA and they dont use a pts structure for admission.

Has anyone gone through or is going through an ASN program in AZ, and then what are my chances after wards of transfering back to Ca to finish an RN to BSN program?

Look forward to hearing from you soon.. Thanks!!

Hi there,

I currently live in arizona and finish up my prereqs. I will be applying to the nursing program in August. Here is their website if you would like to check it out. This is for the maricopa nursing program. Currently the wait list is about 3 semesters long.

I actually moved from California (san diego area) to arizona because of the lists that are there. I hope you find the website informative. Good luck!

MCC currently have a wait list too. About a year minimum I am told depending on the location. Preference (sp?) to in state/ in county residence first ( Because its a commmunity college) then out of county then out of state and so forth on the list
