Hello every one! I was looking over the prereqs I still have to knock Out to satisfy the Nursing Programs of the 2 schools Im looking to get into and the LVN school I am also looking to get into as a back up plan and I realized I could take an extra 2 History classes and Ill be able to get an AA in history at the same time I finish the prereqs for the nursing programs. But the question is should I do it? Im at the JC and I want to Apply to LVN, ASN and BSN programs As it stands this is my schedule for the rest of my time at the JC
((Spring:
Medical terminology
Nutrition 10
Anatomy
communication
Summer: Chemistry
Fall: Micro biology Hist 17 A Philosphy 10 or 13
Spring: Math 10 Physiology Spanish PE ))
I can move my history 17 A class over to the Spring Semester and Add the 2 required classes in Fall and Next Spring (not this upcoming spring) But should I do it? Would having AA Degree affect my financial aid status like my CNA cert is? Would it be worth it? I love history it is My passion next to Nursing. Would it give me an advantage when Applying to nursing programs? Do you think it would be a good idea to add History 17A to Spring 2013? Ill already be busy with Communications and Anatomy I wont be to worried about it but at the same time it is some what more work to do. Your thoughts?

If you feel you can swing it (and you can afford it!), I've learned through experience that have more pieces of paper behind your name (in most cases) can only help. I know that my current employer was very impressed that, although I was wait-listed for nursing school, I took the initiative to not only get my CNA certification but also complete one Associate's degree.

What is your ultimate plan? Which one do you want to pursue more in the long run...history or nursing? Do you see yourself working the typical hospital shift or maybe as a history professor one day?

If it was just because you're that close to getting the AA, I wouldn't bother.
But, since you are really interested in history, I'd say go for it! Having another degree demonstrates well-roundedness, and something in history will not doubt work your writing skills pretty well - always important. Not to mention that it should make for an interesting semester and give you something to do between studying for A & P.
My plan is to work 20 years as a nurse than teach history for the remainder of my life. My friEnd told me that I should just stick to nursing and use the remainder of the time not studying spending time with my gf.I'm not to worried about adding extra history classes as the professor is easy.

I don't really see that will help you in the long run. I have my BSN and some other degrees, but they only look at the BSN. I would put my effort in nursing.
