hello all !!!
i'm a lpn who is going to school for rn. at my cc if you come back to the program within three years post completing lpn program there is no waiting list and you automatically get back in. however, it will either be in the spring or fall and you don't get your actual acceptance letter until a week before nursing school starts. so my program is suppose to start in about 3 weeks and i haven't gotten the letter yet and its' killing. i have a good report with the director so i'm thinking about emailing her. i really need to know if i'm really in or not so that i can basically re-arrange my life for school again. so my question is: should i email her or just wait a week before school starts to see if i get that amazing formal letter.
btw- i'm super excited about becoming a rn. rn have always been my goal but i decided to work as a lpn while finishing prereqs for rn school. i'm also grateful for the wonderful experience being a lpn. overall, i love being a nurse

I say email. She may not tell you the status but it's worth a try. I'm waiting also and i am for sure emailing to ask when the letters are coming.
It's a huge committment to go to NS. I would want to be prepared as early as possible.
Whats the real harm?

You may not get what you're wanting, but an email can't hurt.

Email, call do what you have to do! In order to get places you have to speak up so if she can't give you info maybe someone else from the school could tell if the letters have or have not gone out or if you need to take further steps to get in! Good luck!
I'm offering my personal anecdotes as encouragement to the OP....
I've found timing and the right kind of communication to be key to most of life's successes. Who you know also helps. What you know always seems to take a backseat to everything else.
That said, I got into an RN/BSN program (already have a past B.S.) five months after the application window closed simply by making a phone call one day and talking to the right person; the director. She happened to be the only one in the office so she answered the phone when it rang. During the course of our conversation, which lasted a lot longer than I thought it would, I recounted my experiences and the fact that I had completed all the prereqs previously in life. I was accepted into the program by making that phone call that particular day. I hadn't set any pen to paper to even apply to it.
Maybe that email will help you.
I wouldn't recommend calling personally. Maybe it's just me because I'm cynical, but when I had open positions I couldn't stand when people called after they'd already sent in an application. Yeah, some say it's good because it shows interest, but I always had more to do than coddle people on the phone. I was much more patient with email, but maybe that's just me.

I do not know the head of your school but I can tell you to move forward before you get accidentally shut out. Phone call to the administrative assistant helps and e-mail (don't call) the program head. The huge majority of academics would rather have an e-mail than a letter or a phone call any day (unless it's a formal complaint, when the reverse is true). The opposite applies to hospital administration, who I have found respond best to an appointment and a personal visit.

I don't think an email can hurt, but if its like my school, then the reason you don't get an answer until the week before is because they don't have one - but then, mine is year round with only a couple weeks of break between terms, so that's more understandable.
That being said, if you email her, just don't expect much! Here's hoping you get the answers you need.
Thanks everyone. I going to send the email... hopefully I will find out something soon.
Good luck!

I would just e-mail or even better, pick up the phone and call her.

Did you send the email? Have you heard anything yet?
Waiting is soooooooo difficult. (I wish we had a crossing fingers emoticon!) Please keep us posted!
