Hi. I will be graduating as a LPN in June 2009. I want to work for the VA Hospital. Should I put in application now or wait unitl I graduate? I know the government is S-L-O-W. My dad retired from the government and I am prior AF. Also any suggestions to help make my application stand out? Thanks

Hello Lite:
Yeah, I know the Federal government is Slow, but I should think you could wait a wee bit before submitting your application (for the VA)
You graduate in June, I would obtain an application in May and start the paperwork. Since you are prior service some of your "stuff" won't be that hard to get a hold of. Make sure you have your DD214 so that you get your "points" Every little bit helps!
And as for making your application "stand out" .....Just your prior commitment and service to this country is all the "standing out" that one would need, don'cha think?
Best of luck to you. My goodness but June will be here before you know it...Gosh, what like 4 more months or so?
