Should I apply now or should I wait?

Published

hi guys

i need your advice. i'm planning on moving to texas in december and i know because it is the end of the year, not many companies are willing to hire nurses. so should i wait until january to start applying or should i apply now? if i apply now, are they willing to wait for one month to start? thanks

Apply now, apply later. Always apply. At least that's what I'd do. Eventually they'll give you a firm NO or an interview. Bug the mess outta them until you get the interview!! They'll get to know you and may never forget ya!

Specializes in ED, Cardiology.

MS. RN

Apply now! Reasons include:

- Many areas are not hiring not because it is the end of the year but more patients without insurance causing increased stress on resources = less money for hospital (bad economy)

- Some Nursing schools graduate in December= more completion

- Nothing to lose if you apply now and do not get a job right away

No day as today, in addition you can see what the job market is in that area…Just my thoughts J

Good luck!

Now! I live in Texas and got hired in December as a new graduate.

Specializes in ER, peds, gi, case mgmt..

if you are planning to move to dfw area, be prepared for a long stretch...unless you have your bsn and experience. most places seem to be on a hiring freeze, but still have positions posted. competition is stiff; do not bother to apply until you arrive here and are ready to work. you can start the process of license endorsement before you arrive though. tx bon is timely and efficient with processing.

Apply now. Application is just an application.....it doesn't guarantee an automatic interview. With this kind of economy, beggars can't be choosers!
