Should I apply to Ga Highlands?

I have been accepted to Ga Perimeter to start in the spring :yeah:It is a really long commute from my house and I am thinking about applying to Ga Highlands as we may be moving closer to that school. My concern though is with the Ga Highlands accelerated program which begins in Jan (that's the one I'd be applying for) it only begins at the Rome campus and I've heard conflicting things about their labs? Something like they don't really have labs so the hands on experience is not very good? Should I stick with GPC and endure the commute or apply to Ga Highlands and hope I get in there?

I just got accepted to ga highlands for this fall, and i know a few ppl that have already been in the program, and i havent heard anything about the labs.. I'm trying to get in the marietta campus, so i dont know if i'll be much help, but i say apply, and then once this semester starts, i'm sure someone can give you some input on the labs, if i cant :)

Hey Robin! Congratulations on GPC!!!!! Thats great! I told you not to worry! you have great grades and did great on ur tests. I was wondering if i should apply to GPC. I found out yesterday i didn't get into the LPN program at Laniertech. They had so many "great" test scores that they only accepted 96 and up! can you believe that!!! I think people cheated! there is NO way they had like 50 people score a 96! I passed but only made a 86. so still no luck. Oh, i wanted to tell you, i think that you will get into KSU. your gpa is 3.7-Ksu nursing program looks at the "adjusted gpa" not the cumulative gpa. If you really want to get into ksu, i would retake ur TEAS and I KNOW you will get accepted. I just wish i had a 3.4 or 3.7! (you never told me that ;) ) but anyways, i bet you'l get in to any school you apply for. I wouldn't see why not. ttyl...~Natalie. :)

Thanks, Natalie! I am retaking the TEAS on the 21st! Thanks for the well wishes. I think I miscalculated my adjusted GPA. I got a letter from North Georgia the other day calculating it at 3.4 but I am not sure if that was adjusted or not. I am so confused by the whole thing. My math/science GPA is 3.5 though and my pre-req GPA is higher than that I think, I haven't added it. So maybe I have a shot. I am meeting with my adviser today at 3:30.

The adviser said my pre-req GPA is 3.7. So I am relieved. She also said she thinks I have a good chance to get in so I am going to defer GPC in hopes of getting in at Kennesaw.

Wow, I didn't get into GPC and I have the same GPA. The only thing I didn't do well on was the reading portion of the NET. I can read, I promise, my bachelors degree proves I can. Regardless, still no love from GPA. What was your scores on the NET if you don't mind telling me.

I can't remember the exact score but I do remember it was the 96th percentile for people taking it the same time I did. I also graduated with honors from GPC's associate program about 6 years ago so I don't know if it helps that I am an alumni. What was your NET score? Now you are making me nervous about turning down GPC!

Again, I didn't do well at all on the reading portion, I have never done well on those test. I too graduated from GPC in 2002 and went on and got my bachelors. I calculated my GPA again and overall for all required classes was 3.6 and a 3.7 in math and science. Maybe i'll do better on the TEAS when it is the required test. I'm also trying for the direct entry Masters program at MCG, hoping I preform better on the GRE than I did the NET

Everything was a 3.2, but they only look at the classes required to get into the nursing program which helped it out a little. Maybe next fall. I was hoping this spring so I can get on with it. I am leaving my current career to pursue this and didn't want such a gap between them. Oh well thats just how things are sometimes. I will be applying to GPC, GSU, Clayton, Gwinnett Tech, and MCG for the fall so hopefully I can get in one of those.

I am sure you will get in to one of those! Good for you for sticking with it. I too changed careers to do this. GPC accepts almost triple the number in the fall so you'll have better chances then. I think you'll have really good chances at Clayton. If you could get a loan I know you'd be able to get in at Mercer, that's the avg GPA accepted there. Best of luck to you!
