Should employers be making copies of licenses

Posted

I have a question that maybe someone can answer. Yesterday i applied for a position as a LPN, before i was interviewed the company made a copy of my LPN licenses, drivers licenses and social security card. I was interviewed only to be told that they were still interviewing candidates for the position. My question is why did they make a copy of those things if they weren't going to hire me on the spot? Has anyone else have this done to them? Do you think it right?

I've had them make copies of everything when they hired me. If you don't get hired, then everything but the application and your resume should be destroyed.

That's what i thought they should do, wait until they hire me and then make copies. How would i know if they destroy all my personal info? It just concerns me to why they did this.
