Okay so I went through the forums and found that almost everyone loves crocs. I am just curious anyone over 200 lbs. what shoes have you found that fit you feet well and decreased foot pain by the end of a 12 hr shift, the shoes I currently have were hand-me-downs and I am ready for my first real pair of nursing shoes I am willing to pay up to about $100.

I knew a nurse who weighed >250 # and she was very comfortable in Nike Shocks. I'm not sure how much they cost though. Personally I've always thought they looked kind of "space age" but I know heavier people who have been comfortable in them.

I am a 274 pound ER nurse and I found heaven with my Rykas. The first couple of days I wore them I cursed the stupid saleslady for lying to me, but now my feet are fine and dandy at the end of the shift. The cost between $50 and $75. Good luck.

Never had a problem with New Balances.
I was brave and just bought a pair of Asic Gels. Absolutely wonderful...

Almost all of the heavyset nurses at my hospital wear a high end New Balance shoe, usually the 926 white walker model. New Balance comes in various widths...wide, x-wide, etc... By "high end" I mean the pricier models that are only available at the New Balance stores, running stores, and a few of the online retailers (not stores like Kohls and JCPenneys). I buy mine at shoebuy (free ship/returns) when they have a 20% off discount. If you sign up for their mailing list you'll get the coupon deals.
I suggest going to a running store that also has walking shoes. The staff at these stores are knowledgeable on which shoe has adequate support for the heavier person. Once you find the perfect shoe you can find better deals online in the future.
I'm not heavyset but I also wear the 926 and I tell ya...they're like walking on clouds! I have a lower back problem with herniated disc, pinched nerve, and SI joint trouble. If I didn't wear this shoe during my 12hr shifts I wouldn't be able to walk by the 6th hour. Before wearing this shoe I was limping around and had foot pain four hours into my shift. I also wear knee high support hose which helps immensely!
At the end of my shift my feet and legs rarely hurt!
When it comes to foot and joint health I would never skimp on fit and quality. Even if the New Balance 926 were $200 I would gladly pay the price. Though they're about $100.00 or cheaper if you find a sale online.

I love Crocs........they are the only thing that got me through my last six months as a hospital nurse.
However, I tend to go through them rather quickly because I'm severely overweight, so for durability and fit I wear New Balance. I can put on almost any pair in my size and have them fit like they were made for me, and even the higher-end shoes are relatively affordable, especially if you can find a sale (I paid $50 bucks today for a pair that was originally $79.99). I've paid as much as $150 for other name brands that didn't feel near as good on my feet, so I don't hesitate to pay half that for shoes that not only fit perfectly but make me feel 100 pounds lighter!
