Shadowing for job

Published

Hey all! I'm new here although I've been lurking for a while. I'm starting nursing school in August. Yay! I interviewed the other day for a nursing assistant job at Duke, which is where I know I want to work after I graduate. The interview went well and the nurse manager asked me if I'd like to shadow one of the current NAs. I'm doing that on Monday and I'm really excited about it. But here's my question: What do I wear???

The only scrubs I have are my white ones from my CNA class and I think they would make me stand out like a sore thumb. Should I just wear dressy casual clothes with some nice, comfy shoes? I don't really have the money to go out and buy scrubs just for a shadowing experience.

I personally wouldn't do casual. Many hospitals have their own issued scrubs for OR. See if that's not something you could borrow for a day.

Otherwise, if you think the chances are good that you'll land the job, maybe you should go ahead and buy a pair anyway as you'll be using them later.
